What is a Watcher?

What IS a Watcher, anyways? I've always described them as creatures, but if I had to categorize them in a family, the same way that dogs are canines and cats are felines...

I think Watchers would be avians. Maybe demigods or godlings, if we are getting into a specifics. Because guardians doesn't sound right to me. I don't really know, I don't exactly know other Watchers, so I wouldn't know.

For me tho, I'm some kind of... I guess creature made of wings, eyes, and matter of the universe, that wears a mask and takes a humanoid form with wings. I can just talk from experience, because I haven't met other Watchers and there's not much to know about us because technically we're a fan-made creature. I have to basically create my own lore and fuse it with how little is available, because the EvoSMP is dead, Grian doesn't talk about it, and I guess Martyn and Jimmy are the ones that feed the fans lore, but that lore is canon in what technically is an AU. I want to make my own document and write down my own lore, so that I have it all organised. And maybe to help out other Watcherkins out there!
