How to break free

They get very surprised when an untamed dog bites

They are shocked when an untrained dog can’t follow commands

They get upset with the dog when it pushes and pushes its boundaries, because it never knew how to break free

They hate it when the dog cries at night, when those cries turn into anger

And anger turns into violence

And violence turns into blood

And blood turns into tears

And tears turn into hate

Because it doesn't know any better

Because it was not its responsibility to know

It was from the adults that adopted it

It was his humans' responsibility to teach it

But it was its fault that it bit

Because it never knew how to break free
